Who Teeth Whitening Can Help

I often recommend professional whitening for patients who like their smile overall, but feel held back by stains or a darker shade than they would prefer. Teeth whitening may be a good fit if you:

  • Notice yellowing or darkening from coffee, tea, red wine, or tobacco
  • See uneven color that makes you self‑conscious in photos
  • Have a special event coming up and want your smile to look its best
  • Have healthy teeth and gums but want a brighter, fresher look

During your visit, I will examine your teeth, gums, and any existing restorations and tell you honestly what whitening can and cannot do. Some types of discoloration, and restorations such as crowns, veneers, or bonding, do not respond to whitening in the same way. If another cosmetic option, such as veneers or bonding, would be better for your situation, I will explain why and walk you through those choices.

How Teeth Whitening Works

  • We evaluate your teeth and gums
At a new patient or assessment visit, or existing patient visit, your dentist reviews your health history, examines your teeth and gums, and looks at the source of stains to be sure whitening is appropriate.
  • We choose the right whitening approach
Based on your goals, sensitivity level, and timing, we recommend an in‑office whitening visit and, when helpful, custom trays or refills to support your results.
  • You receive in‑office whitening
Your gums are protected, a professional whitening gel is applied, and the teeth are monitored closely while the gel works. Most patients see a noticeable change in about one visit.
  • We guide you on after‑care and maintenance
You receive clear instructions about eating, drinking, and sensitivity after treatment, along with options for maintaining your new shade over time.

How To Get Started With Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening

Getting Started

You do not need to know exactly which visit type to ask for. Your only job is to reach out and tell us what you would like to change.

Step 1: Reach out

Use the form on this page or call our Chaska clinic and say something as simple as:

  • “I am interested in teeth whitening.”
  • “I want my teeth to look whiter for an upcoming event.”
  • “I have tried whitening strips and did not like the results.”

Our team will ask a few easy questions so we understand your situation.

Step 2: We match you to the right first visit

Based on what you share, we will:

  • Note whether you have dental insurance or not
  • Check whether you are new to the clinic or already a patient here
  • Ask about timing, sensitivity, and any upcoming events

Then we will recommend the best way to start, such as:

Step 3: Meet with your dentist and decide together

Based on what you share, we will:

  • Listen to what you want your smile to look like and when you need results
  • Examine your teeth, gums, and any existing restorations
  • Explain what type of whitening is appropriate and what shade change is realistic
  • Walk through timing, cost, and how insurance or membership apply to your overall care

You remain in control. Our role is to give you clear information and a realistic plan so you can decide what feels right.

Cost, Insurance, and Membership Options

Professional whitening is usually considered a cosmetic treatment and is not covered by dental insurance. Before you decide, you receive a written plan that outlines:

  1. The fee for your in‑office whitening visit
  2. Any recommended at‑home trays or refills, if you choose to add them
  3. How we can time whitening alongside any other needed dental care

For patients without dental insurance, the "Happy & Healthy Smile Membership" can still support your overall dental health, even though it does not lower the cost of whitening:

  1. A flat fee, paid once per year
  2. All routine exams and X‑rays included
  3. 15% savings on most cleanings and treatment, including restorative and cosmetic care such as clear aligners
  4. No savings on whitening, Botox, or retail products (these have their own dedicated plans)

The membership is a savings plan, not insurance, and it cannot be combined with insurance or other discounts.
