I usually recommend a crown when a tooth is too weak for a simple filling but can still be saved. A dental crown may be a good fit if you:

During your visit, I will examine your teeth, gums, and bite and tell you honestly whether a crown is the right solution. Sometimes a more conservative filling is enough. Other times, the tooth may need different treatment or may not be restorable. If another option, such as a filling, bridge, or implant, would serve you better, I will explain why and walk you through those choices in clear language.

How Dental Crowns Work
- We evaluate the tooth and surrounding area
At your visit, your dentist reviews your health history, examines the tooth, takes any needed X‑rays, and checks how your bite comes together. - We prepare the tooth and take an impression
The damaged or weak areas are carefully shaped away so the crown can fit securely. We take a digital or physical impression so the lab can create a custom crown. - You leave with a temporary crown
A temporary crown protects the tooth while your permanent crown is being made. We review how to care for it and what to expect. - We place and adjust the final crown
At the next visit, we try in the permanent crown, check the fit and bite, make any fine adjustments, and cement it in place once everything feels right.

Based on what you share, we will:
- Note whether you have dental insurance or not
- Check whether you are new to the clinic or already a patient here
- Ask about your pain level and how long the problem has been going on
Then we will recommend the best way to start, such as:
- A new patient visit visit focused on your problem tooth or teeth
- A "Happy & Healthy Smile Assessment" if you are uninsured or out‑of‑network
- A focused exam if you are already a patient and have a new concern with a specific tooth
Step 3: Meet with your dentist and decide together
At your visit, your dentist will:
